In power system lightning protection, surge protectors (SPDs) serve as the primary defense against lightning surges and switching overvoltages. High-voltage doorknob capacitors, featuring a unique ceramic dielectric and epoxy resin encapsulation structure, play a critical role in high-frequency filtering and energy buffering.
Technical Performance
When lightning electromagnetic pulses (LEMPs) or switching overvoltages (such as from switch trips) enter the system, doorknob capacitors rapidly absorb high-frequency surge energy to suppress voltage spikes. They work in conjunction with varistors (MOVs) or gas discharge tubes (GDTs) to achieve multi-stage discharge. Applications in Renewable Energy
On the DC side of inverters in new energy installations (photovoltaic and wind power), DC SPDs must withstand high temperatures and humidity at 1500VDC.
